I purchased a non-ported barrel as it was the only available,  and it works great though 357sig in this little Shield package is a bit snappy. I dropped in the ported barrel but unfortunately haven't made it to the range to compare recoil vs the non ported barrel.

I recieved my barrel very quickly (4 days) even though in Utah state, it slipped into my shield perfectly, now to purchase ammo and give it a shooting session.

I have both a non-ported and ported Shield 40, and on this order I bought conversion barrels for both. The non-ported barrel was fine. This ported one has a fair amount of rust in the chamber (and a small amount in the bore). It's not an incredibly big deal to me, but, if you're going to make a barrel like this it ought to be worth the effort to protect it from rust.
