Description

TR-Enabling limited run of obsidian AR-15 bcg's. Each AR-15 bolt carrier comes assembled with an M-16 Obsidian bolt and components. Obsidian is a revolutionary coating that offers outstanding performance and appearance. This new coating recorded a coefficient of friction of .06, outperforming all other currently offered bolt carrier coatings. Because of its application process the coating is evenly applied, at a thickness of .0005”, on all surfaces of the assembly. TR Enabling’s Obsidian coating is rated at a hardness of RC70. Obsidian is rated to withstand prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, far beyond that which a bolt carrier is exposed. Possibly one of the most notable features of this coating, for the average user, is the extreme cleanability it provides. Resisting carbon build-up and maintaining its performance between cleans is where this coating truly shines. After several thousand rounds, the shooter simply wipes the carbon from the surface. The coating can be cleaned by all conventional means (solvent bath, supersonic submersion and more) however, these methods are generally not necessary. Obsidian is capable of operating without lubrication, once the break-in period of 300 rounds is complete, though it is not recommended. TR Enabling recommends a light grease known as XF-7, however any popular firearm-rated lubricant will suffice.

Ran this bolt the last few weeks without any issues. It is a little tight when you 1st install it but worked great. I would buy another.

Obsidian BCG August 23, 2016

I was building my first AR when I stumbled upon TR Enabling's website, and I am very glad I did. The Obsidian BCG functions flawlessly in my AR. I also bought the lower parts kit, and I get constant complements on the looks and function of my AR from anyone that sees it. Will be using as many TR parts as I can in future builds.

AR15 Obdsidian BCG July 12, 2016

Though I've not had a chance to actually use this BCG, it truly is a piece of art. The machining and final finishing are second to none. After reading about the suggested lube, XF7 I did some more research on the lube. From what I've seen and read it too is the proper lube for such a beautiful BCG. The guys at TR are very patient and professional tolerating all of my questions answering them with a smile. Initially I was about to purchase a nickel boron BCG when I stumbled across the TR Enabling site. That changed everything especially after reading the various reviews and watching some youtube reviews. I will also keep an eye out for new products from TR. They take the common and hone it into the uncommon.

M16 Obsidian BCG July 11, 2016

I just purchased my 3rd & 4th set of Obsidian BCGs. Reason is that they just work. Always. I have zero problems, and i use them exclusively in AR15 uppers with no forward assist mechanism.
